Mark Birchall – Total Fitouts Queensland – Franchise Manager Queensland and Marketing Coordinator Corporate
It is sometimes a weird thing how things work out. There’s not too many places where you can go in this world without meeting someone that has some form of connection to yourself. It is funny how some of those connections from the past can rear their head at the most random times and be a massive part of your future.
This is very true for how Mark Birchall came into contact with Total Fitouts.
After spending the majority of his life in Melbourne, from birth, to schooling, to completing his University degree in Marketing and partaking in internships and work experience programs with Advertising giants DDB Melbourne and Badjar Ogilvy, as well as surf wear icon Rip Curl; Mark decided a sea change was needed and moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2015.
It was there that on a chance night out in one of his first weeks there, he met Total Fitouts CEO Jeremy Dyer. Pretty quickly their conversations turned into the realization that they had both previously lived in the same suburb in Melbourne and shared a whole heap of mutual friends.
After apprising each other a little more about their life and working experiences, the ball promptly got rolling as to how Marks marketing and business skillset could be utilized for the Total Fitouts brand.
A year on from that night Mark now works in a dual role as Franchise Manager for Total Fitouts Queensland as well as the Marketing Coordinator for Total Fitouts Corporate. His role has him delegating his time across virtually every element of the business structure. He is in regular contact with all franchisee’s, the heads of each Australian and New Zealand territory and every key stakeholder that makes up the corporate office.
The best part of Mark’s job is that no week is the same, which works well as versatility is one of his key strengths.
A week could find him in meetings with potential franchisee’s, performing up-skilling training sessions with existing franchisee’s, liaising and developing relationships with new or existing corporate clients, coordinating graphic designers, website developers and Google search engine specialists; all whilst communicating back to the key personnel in the business.
It is rare to have such a hybrid position entrusted upon someone that is only a few years removed from his university degree, but his experiences over the last five years of his life have all more than adequately prepared him for the type of role that he now plays.
During the previous five years Mark has completed a university degree, done volunteer work in Africa, travelled the majority of South America, North America and South East Asia, as well as working in Canada. He used Melbourne as a home base all this time to work, gain valuable Marketing experience and most importantly play Australian Rule Football during the winter. But on a whim he packed up and transported his life up to the Sunshine Coast after developing a passion for surfing and a need to defrost from Melbourne’s constantly temperamental weather.
Now settled on the Sunshine Coast, being involved in Total Fitouts has really got Mark passionate about being a key member in the brand and he couldn’t be happier in the pivotal role that he plays seeing the brands success grow across Australia and New Zealand.
