Tim Adams Specialty Coffee, the brainchild of award-winning Australian barista Tim Adams, approached the Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South team to create their Flagship store within Kawana Shopping World. The talented team were tasked with creating a natural space that reflects the company’s sustainable ethos & ethically responsible products. Collectivus, a key collaborator in designing the project, helped achieve the retail fitout’s overall aesthetic, layout, and finishes.
Tim, the owner of the certified fair-trade coffee brand, famous for his ‘Giving Back Chapola Project, wanted to create an earthy, grounded hospitality fit out within a bright, bustling shopping centre.
His vision – to create a natural, organic, retreat that breaks down the barrier between the front and back of the house and is inviting and welcoming.
Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South’s in-house team built a functional, open-planned space including an interactive breakfast bar to nurture relationships between baristas and customers. The practical, multi-zoned design revolved around the central commercial workspace. Custom joinery, bespoke bench tops and ever-popular VJ panelling were incorporated to define unique spaces, servery areas, and seating options.
The local fitout team delivered quality carpentry workbenches, built-in functional refrigeration and intricate storage solutions throughout the design.

Natural colours & finishes were used throughout to reflect the natural environment in which Tim Adams coffee beans are harvested. On-trend ‘kit-kat’ vertical tiles, teal-coloured paint, stone effect stools, wooden tables and large plants were chosen throughout to continue the connection to earth and nature. Custom-built black kicks, anthracite metal features and onyz accents tied the organic spaces together.
Kate McLean Lead Designer says, ‘Soft lighting, feature stone and custom joinery were just a few of the elements required to deliver the client’s vision. Our local tradie team created bespoke wooden elements which added natural, earthy, elements. The wow factor within this open-plan hospitality fitout was the installation of branded neon signage. Our talented designers delivered the brief and created a down-to-earth atmosphere that feels grounded & approachable.”
Kate and the Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South team expertly managed the complete concept to completion project, delivering bespoke touches, custom timber joinery, mood lighting and high-end finishes. The result was another memorable hospitality fitout for Heath and his local team of fitout professionals.
