KX Pilates Edmondson Square, located in Liverpool NSW, contacted the Total Fitouts Surry Hills team to help them design and build their holistic pilates training studio. Yen Ly, owner of the popular KX – Kaizen Xperience – business, which has over 90 branches across Australia, tasked the team with creating a modern, scandi style, KX-branded commercial fitness fitout.
The studio started life as a bare space within a new shopping centre. The scope included creating a modern reception area, comfortable communal waiting space, state of art pilates training studio, and functional staff/storeroom.
Interior Designer Kellie Quach says, “Owner Yen Ly had a very clear vision of the fit out she desired. She wanted us to build a calm yet practical space, where her clients could enjoy attending classes and interacting with friends. She also required a welcoming reception area, functional consultation space and practical storage. Custom hardwood joinery, soft lighting, neon signage and a neutral colour palette were key design requirements. The real ‘must haves’ were the curved wooden partition walls, which are an essential KX Pilates brand element.”
Yen Ly chose Peter, Kellie, and the Total Fitouts Surry Hills team as she required an experienced team of local fit out professionals who could make the fit out process simple and easy, and also make her feel comfortable.

The team built an on-trend curved reception desk, featuring a custom-built counter with wooden panelling, led lighting, and a classic stone bench top. The space was brought together with the feature frosted ball, copper, pendant light and backlit signage. The functional reception desk doubled up as a ‘meet and greet’ and consultation area.
Soft lights, a natural calming colour palate, hand-crafted bespoke carpentry, and raw finishes were installed to create a textured, light and calming studio.
Kellie says, “The client was very clear about the style and vision of the KX brand, and we worked closely with them to bring their concept to life. They had many functional and practical design requirements as well, elements that are essential for operating a successful pilates fitness studio. The practical elements had to be incorporated into the modern, holistic design. Key design features were a bold KX pilates sign graphic in aqua, which were a contrast to the textured white paint and warm woods. Other custom pieces included the water fountain, pigeon holes for customers, waiting benches and reception counter.”
Peter, Kellie and the Total Fitouts Surry Hills team expertly managed the complete design, construct and build project, delivering bespoke touches, custom timber joinery, mood lighting and high-end finishes. The result is another memorable fitness fit out for the Total Fitouts local team of fit out professionals.
