Total Fitouts Adelaide Central has undertaken the task of transforming a pre-existing old heritage building and winery commercial space into an updated rustic and inviting haven for Shingleback Winery. Shingleback Winery is renowned for its unwavering commitment to crafting exceptional wines that truly reflect the character of their land. With an ethos rooted in integrity, environmental responsibility, and community engagement, Shingleback’s wines are a testament to meticulous craftsmanship.
The comprehensive scope of this commercial hospitality fitout encompasses various key areas, each designed to contribute to a warm and inviting ambience such as the entrance and main dining area, service area and outdoor deck area. The commercial design for the winery fitout was completed by Total Fitouts Adelaide Central in house design team.
Total Fitouts Adelaide Central demonstrated their adeptness in design simplicity with the Shingleback hospitality fitout. One of the most distinctive aspects of their approach was the skilful incorporation of elements from the existing farmstead shed, seamlessly weaving its essence into the new space. By preserving the rustic charm and character of the original structure, they managed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that resonates with visitors. The clever use of colour and minimalistic design elements served to enhance the overall aesthetic, resulting in a harmonious blend of modern functionality and the enduring appeal of the farmstead.
The entrance to the commercial shopfit sets the tone with a large timber doorway featuring glass panelling, inviting patrons into the winery’s world. Rustic charm abounds with exposed tin roof panelling and timber support beams, creating a structured yet welcoming atmosphere. Exposed brickwork and concrete walls further enhance the rustic, old-world ambience. A carefully chosen mix of sleek black tables with wooden tops, paired with black chairs, provides seating for guests. A central black fireplace and wine racks not only add to the aesthetic of the commercial hospitality fitout but also ties in with the winery’s theme. Large marbled stones on the ground break up the space and contribute to the overall design.

This illumination enhances the functionality and adds to the visual appeal of the space. Aluminium cabinetry and black wine racks behind the counter provide storage and display options.
The commercial design seamlessly marries various elements to create a cohesive and visually striking environment. Circular hanging lights suspended from the underside of timber-structured planks provide both illumination and a decorative element. Black and timber-framed windows add character while allowing natural light to filter in.
Total Fitouts Adelaide Central encountered a notable challenge during the Shingleback hospitality fitout, particularly in the context of the stone walls that formed a crucial part of the design. Originally, the plan involved directly attaching a wine display to the stone walls, but practicality raised concerns about this approach. To address this challenge, the team devised an ingenious solution by crafting a steel powder-coated structure to support the wine display. This alteration not only resolved the issue but also enhanced the overall aesthetics of the space, transforming what was once a design challenge into a more elegant and functional feature.
This commercial design and fitout is an embodiment of Shingleback Winery’s commitment to craftsmanship and excellence. It transforms the space into a rustic yet timeless haven where patrons can savour exceptional wines while immersed in an inviting and characterful atmosphere. Total Fitouts Adelaide Central’s in-house design team has successfully translated the winery’s ethos into a space that tells a story of dedication to the land and the craft of winemaking.
