Sunshine Coast Neurosurgery, fit out by local shopfit experts Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South, is located in the bustling medical hub of “Vitality Village” Birtinya. This complex is a renowned centre for medical and health services, making it an ideal location for a neurosurgery clinic. The clinic, owned by client Dr. Stephen Byrne, specialises in comprehensive brain and spine care, including pre and post-surgery consultations and wound care.

The commercial medical fitout features a modern coastal style with a warm and inviting mood. The commercial design emphasises warm feature lighting, avoiding harsh LEDs, and incorporates extensive use of timber and custom joinery. Despite a few common onsite adjustments, the project proceeded smoothly. The commercial fitout was brought to life by in-house commercial interior designers Telia & Ishoa, within the Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South team.

The interior fitout encompassed the commercial design and fitout of five consultation rooms, each equipped with custom joinery and hand wash stations, along with office equipment. A private admin room for the practice manager was also included, featuring custom-built storage joinery. The reception area stands out with a large custom joinery piece, a feature timber bulkhead, and a custom booth seat.

Telia, in-house commercial designer says, “The reception area features a sleek, curved desk with warm timber accents and subtle LED strip lighting that creates a welcoming ambience.”

Ishoa, in-house commercial designer adds, “The use of light-coloured materials and soft textures enhances the overall warmth and serenity of the space.”

Custom joinery is a highlight, particularly evident in the built-in shelving and cabinetry in the consultation rooms, which are both practical and visually appealing.

Telia continues, “Natural elements, such as the hanging plants and timber finishes, add a touch of nature, while the carefully chosen decor items and soft, diffused lighting contribute to a calming environment.”

Unique design elements of the commercial medical fitout include cork flooring in the reception area to maintain good acoustic properties and a mosaic tile on a structural pole in the reception area. LED stripping is used as a feature throughout the space.
