Skin and Body Club’s commercial wellness & beauty fitout, skilfully orchestrated by Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South, marked a transformative shift in the establishment’s aesthetics and services. Client Josie Paton, seeking a rebrand of the existing space, envisioned a departure from the existing bakery space and movement towards a more inclusive environment. The new design transitioned away from the previous pinks and whites to a refreshing palette of greens and timbers, catering to a diverse clientele, including a substantial male demographic. The commercial fit out encompassed a range of services, including aesthetics, facials, injectables, massages, cosmetic tattooing, beauty treatments, laser hair removal, and waxing.

The commercial wellness & beauty fitout was strategically driven by the desire to expand the existing chemist in the area, resulting in a 90-square-meter space. Josie seamlessly incorporated key elements from her previous location, including the reception area, custom booth seating, built-in shelving, Otsiminyagi rendering (rockcote) from Arlo Stone & Finishes, custom wall niche shelving, travertine tiling for the reception desk from National Tiles, and vinyl tile flooring. The new establishment featured five treatment rooms, three LED bars for specific treatments, a dedicated tan room, and halo-lit brand signage out front, creating a welcoming and branded exterior. Natural green hues and darker timbers, particularly walnut woods, were chosen to evoke a unisex and organic ambience. Solid satin brass wavy handles from Lo & Co were also incorporated.

Despite the success of the project, there were challenges along the way. Previous hydraulic plans for the tenancy next door restricted access, requiring the team to run sanitary pumps throughout the entire space. Unexpected issues with plumbing services not aligning with the correct location prompted a search for alternative solutions. All of this had to be managed within a short time frame, adding a layer of complexity to the project.

One of the highlights of the commercial wellness & beauty fitout was the swift and efficient collaboration with Telia, who completed the commercial interior design in just a week. The entire fit out process took a commendable six weeks. Telia, commercial in-house interior designer said, “The design emphasised the commitment to creating a space that is truly unisex, promoting an environment that caters to everyone’s needs through colours and textures chosen.”
